This policy explains how FounderPrompt LLC, the Wyoming company that operates Zenbu Anime (“Zenbu”, “we”), collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the website at zenbuanime.com, the Zenbu Anime mobile app, and the Zenbu browser extension (together, “the Service”).
Account. When you create an account we collect your email address and the username you choose. If you sign up with a password, it is stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider; we never see it. If you sign in with Google, Discord, or Apple, we receive basic account information from that provider, such as your email address.
Profile. Details you choose to add: a bio, your city and country, a website and social links, your timezone, a profile picture, a banner, and an optional profile badge.
Your activity and content. Anime ratings, library and watch history, rankings and lists, reviews, comments, chatroom and episode-chat posts, poll votes, images and screenshots you upload (such as Top Moments submissions), and anime data you choose to import from services like MyAnimeList or AniList.
Connections and safety. Who you follow and who follows you, members you have blocked, and reports you send us about content or other members.
Direct messages. Messages you exchange with other members are stored so they can be delivered and shown to you both.
Membership. If you buy a membership, we record that your account has it. Payments are handled by the payment provider or app store you use; we do not receive or store your card details. For a subscription bought in the app, Google Play tells us which plan you chose, whether it is active, and when it renews or ends, and we keep that with your account.
Usage and technical data. Basic usage data such as pages visited and features used, and technical data that any online service receives, such as your IP address, browser or device type, and the time of a request. On the website, optional analytics are described in the Cookies and Analytics section below.
Bug reports. If you send us a bug report, we store what you wrote with your account. A report sent from the mobile app also includes the app version, your phone model, and its operating system version, so we can reproduce the problem; the app shows you these details before you send.
We use your information to provide and improve the Service: your rankings, taste profile, anime persona, recommendations, social features, and messaging. Your email is used for sign-in and essential account communication, and is not shared with third parties for marketing. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not show advertising.
We also use it to keep the Service safe: to review reports, to enforce our Terms of Service, and to limit spam and abuse. Some of this is automated. Comments, reviews, and messages are checked against rules for spam when they are sent, episode-chat posts may be checked by an automated moderation service, and profile pictures and banners are checked by an automated image check before they are published. Content that several members report may be hidden automatically until a person reviews it.
Your username and public profile content, which may include your ratings, lists, reviews, anime persona, Top Moments submissions, community posts, profile picture, and follower and following lists, may be visible to other members and to people browsing profile links, and may appear in the member directory if you opt in. You can make your profile private, or limit individual sections of it, in your privacy settings.
Your email address is never displayed publicly. The list of members you have blocked is visible only to you. Direct messages are private between you and the recipient: we do not read them, except a message that its recipient reports to us, in which case that one message is shown to our moderators. When you report something, the member you reported is not told who reported it.
Your data is stored using Supabase, a hosted database, authentication, and file storage platform, and is delivered through Cloudflare. Data is encrypted in transit. These providers may process data in countries other than your own. We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, but no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The Zenbu Anime mobile app uses the same account and data as the website. It contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking software.
To fix problems and learn which parts of the app are used, the app keeps its own usage log, sent only to Zenbu: when you open the app, which kinds of screen you open (for example “an anime page”, never which anime, profile or conversation), the app version, and a report when the app hits an error. Error reports have addresses, emails, and IDs removed before they leave your device. The log never includes anything you type, is not shared with anyone, is deleted after 180 days, and is removed if you delete your account. You can turn it off in the app under Settings, Privacy & safety, “Usage & Error Reports”.
If you allow notifications, the app registers a push token for your device: a random identifier issued by Expo and Google that lets us send notifications to that device and nothing else. We keep it with your account, remove it when you log out of the app, delete your account, or have not opened the app on that device for 60 days, and use it only to deliver the notifications you have chosen. You choose which kinds you get (messages, follows, comments and replies, new episodes, likes) in the app under Settings, Notifications, or turn them all off in your device’s settings. A message notification shows only who it is from unless you turn on “Show message text”. To deliver a notification, its text and the link it opens pass through Expo’s push service and Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging; they are not used for anything else, and notifications waiting to be sent are deleted within six hours.
The app asks for access to your photos only when you choose an image for your profile or for a Top Moments submission, and it receives only the image you pick. It does not access your location, contacts, camera, or microphone.
The app keeps some data on your device so it opens quickly and remembers your choices: your sign-in session, saved copies of your library and the catalog, your appearance and layout settings, your blocked list, and your push token if you allowed notifications. Logging out removes your sign-in session from the device, and uninstalling the app removes everything it stored.
The Zenbu Anime Companion browser extension is optional and separate from the Site. It runs only on the streaming sites listed in its description — currently Crunchyroll and Netflix — and only on their video pages. It reads the title and episode number shown on the page, and the playback position, duration and how much of the episode has been played, taken from the page’s own video player. It does not read your streaming account, your credentials, your viewing history on those services, or the video itself, and it does not run on any other website.
That playback information is sent to Zenbu only once you connect an account, and is used to mark episodes watched and to show episode comments alongside the moment they refer to. Comments and reactions you post through the extension are stored exactly as they would be if you posted them on the Site. Connecting creates a sign-in session for that browser, stored locally on your device and never shared with the streaming site; you can end it at any time from the extension’s toolbar menu, and you can turn off automatic tracking there without disconnecting.
The extension sends no data to anyone but Zenbu. It contains no analytics or advertising, and nothing it collects is sold or transferred to third parties.
Zenbu Anime Companion's use and transfer of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Extension data is used only to provide or improve the companion's user-facing features, maintain security, or comply with applicable law.
Zenbu uses a small number of cookies and local storage keys. Strictly necessary ones — keeping you signed in, remembering your chosen theme, and remembering your cookie choice itself — are always on, need no consent, and are never used for advertising. Optional analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4) are used only to understand how visitors find and use the Site — for example, which pages are popular and whether a link from search or social media led to a signup. We never run advertising, and Google's ad-related signals (ad storage, ad personalization) are always turned off regardless of your choice.
If you are visiting from the EU, EEA, or UK, analytics cookies are off by default and only turn on if you click Accept on the cookie banner. Elsewhere, analytics defaults to on but you can decline at any time — from the banner on your first visit, or afterward from Settings → Privacy → "Cookies & Analytics". Declining (or later withdrawing consent) stops analytics immediately; nothing collected after that point is retained or backfilled once you change your mind.

We rely on a small number of service providers, which process data on our behalf or at your request:
Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage) and Cloudflare (hosting, delivery, security, and aggregate traffic statistics). Google, Discord, and Apple, if you choose to sign in with one of them. Google Analytics, on the website only and subject to your cookie choice. OpenAI, whose moderation service may receive the text of an episode-chat post, or a profile picture or banner you upload, to check it against our content rules; direct messages are never sent to it. Stripe, which processes membership payments made on the website, and the app store you buy from, such as Google Play, for a membership bought in the mobile app. Expo and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, which deliver the mobile app’s push notifications if you allow them.
Anime information and cover images come from public anime databases, and your browser or app may request them directly from those services. If a member posts a link to an image in chat, the image is loaded from the site that hosts it, which receives your IP address as any website you visit would. If you use an import feature, we retrieve your list from the service you choose, such as MyAnimeList, at your request.
These services have their own privacy policies.
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from Settings, on the website or in the app. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, ratings, library and watch history, reviews, rankings, comments, direct messages, follows, notifications, and notification settings and push tokens, and signs you out everywhere. Images you uploaded, including your profile picture and banner, are removed from our storage shortly afterwards; copies held by our delivery network expire on their own.
Some things remain after deletion: episode-chat posts, feature requests, and bug reports you wrote stay visible without your name; copies in routine backups remain until those backups expire; and we may keep records where the law requires it or where we need them to deal with abuse.
You can also delete some of your data and keep your account: in Settings, under Data, choose what to delete, such as your ratings and library, watch history, reviews, comments, messages you sent, follows or notifications. The steps for both are on our account deletion page.
If you cannot sign in, you can ask us to delete your account through the contact page, and we will do so after confirming the request comes from you.
Zenbu is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
You can see and change most of your information in your profile and settings, and you can delete your account as described above. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask for a copy of your personal data, to have it corrected, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent you have given, such as for analytics cookies. To make a request, contact us; we will respond within the time the law allows.
We may update this policy as the Service changes. We will change the date at the top when we do, and if a change is significant we will tell you on the Service.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, contact us through the contact page on zenbuanime.com or at [email protected], or write to FounderPrompt LLC, 30 N Gould St Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States. FounderPrompt LLC is responsible for your personal data as described in this policy.
